Ship Recycling Process

Container Ship

1. Pre-arrival Elements

  • Review of ship specific documentation.

  • Comprehensive inspection of ship and subsequent clearance.

3. Ship Arrival

  • Preparation of Ship recycling facility for arrival of ship.

  • Ship is to be docked in a protected area with oil fences.

  • Walk-through (on-board inspection) of vessel with site personnel to identify the amount and zones of potential hazardous material, along with all access & egress. 

5. Dismantling Sequence

  • Dismantling the ship in accordance to the SRP taking into account ship-specific cutting operations, processes and procedures.

2. Ship arrival preparation

  • Consultations with the ship-owner to determine appropriate method for the safe and environmentally sound recycling of the ship.

  • Preparation and approval of Ship Recycling Plan.

4. Management of Hazardous Material

  • Safe removal and disposal of all hazardous material.

  • Documentation of Hazardous material in 

  • Material Management.

6. Post processing & Project Closure

  • Resources and materials are sorted, cleaned and brought back into the economy.

  • Waste substances are disposed and taken care of accordingly. 

  • Ship recycling facility is cleaned.

  • Ship documentation and reporting to be submitted to relevant authorities.
